Youth sports used to be simple—sign up, play, and have fun. Today, rising costs for travel, coaching, and competition are changing the game. As Sen. Cory Booker points out, many families are feeling the pressure, raising an important question: are youth sports still accessible to all?

At seven years old, what began as a reluctant start in youth sports quickly became the beginning of a lifelong lesson. After wanting to quit football just a few practices in, Aaron Caldwell was taught something that would stay with him long after the season ended: you finish what you start. That early experience opened the door to lessons in discipline, teamwork, resilience, and confidence that sports can give young athletes as they grow.
